JOHN VICTOR DIVI ROME BAND will be playing two sets of danceable Afro Pop funk from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, playing out front of our neighbors’ store front (thanks, Gutter Pop!). This performance is presented by / courtesy of Revolution Gallery Lounge and Gutter Pop Comics and is part of the Hertel Summer Series (by the Hertel Business Association).
John “Victor’ Barefogok brings his sinewy, psychedelic guitar lines all the way from Juba, South Sudan. Guitars, drums, percussion, and vocals build John Victor’s original music to evoke classic pop, reggae and jazz from central Africa and beyond.
John “Victor” Barefogok was a mainstay of the music scene in Juba, South Sudan before arriving in Buffalo in 2000. Now, he brings his unique talents to projects that aim to nourish the soul, and move the body — locally and with international African pop and reggae artists like Nkulee Dube and The Ben. But the best way to hear his effervescent, engaging style is with his own band, Divi Romē.
