FEMME EN/VIE • A Live Music Performance by CANELA
Saturday • March 21st | doors 7:00pm • music 8:00pm | $10. | 21+ with physical, valid ID
FEMME EN/VIE is a celebration of Women’s History month curated by CANELA and hosted by The Lounge at Revolution Gallery.
Through this performance we honor the power of the feminine and seek to reframe the archetypal “femme fatale”: the formidable temptress who leads others to their fatal downfalls.
FEMME EN/VIE challenges our collective fear of powerful women and invites us to embrace la femme “en/vie”: a woman, “alive” (en vie), who commands sensuality and desire (envie) and inspires creativity, growth, and resilience.
That this energy can be dangerous, however, is not to be overlooked. Death and birth are interdependent—every beginning, also an end. Our performance therefore explores both shadow and light.
The feminine is the energy of creation available to all.
Please join us in celebrating it through works by Jesse Montgomery, Gabriela Lena Frank, Caroline Shaw, Florence Price, and Rhiannon Giddens, as well as our own originals, including new songs by Sam and Vanessa.

(No AI used in the creation of this post. Why? We’d rather sound like ourselves than someone else’s version of perfect. Also, words are powerful. They are the stuff of spells and prayer and song.)
